Your records

Dive logs, certifications, gear, media, trips, and subscription status are covered here.

Introduction

Dive Track ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our dive logging application.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from your Google account.

Dive Data

We store the dive information you provide, including dive sites, dates, depths, durations, gear used, certifications, and any notes or media you upload.

Audio Recordings

Our mobile app may request microphone access to record audio notes for your dives. Audio recordings are only captured when you explicitly initiate recording.

Location Data

With your permission, we may collect location data to help you log dive sites. You can also manually enter dive site locations without granting location access.

Photos and Media

You may upload photos and videos to document your dives. This media is stored securely and associated with your account.

Plan and Billing Information

We store Premium trial dates, whether you upgraded, whether you created or joined a trip under the Free plan, your use of Free plan limits, your selected paid plan, renewal and cancellation details, and the billing account references needed to manage your subscription. Your Free-plan trip history remains after an individual trip or membership is deleted, but is deleted with your account.

Preferences and Catalog Contributions

We store preferences, local dive shop selections, gear catalog requests, dive-site corrections, fish or sea-life tags, and similar inputs you provide to personalize Dive Track and improve catalog quality.

Usage and Device Information

We may collect app usage, device, browser, diagnostics, and interaction information to keep the service reliable, measure feature performance, and improve the product experience.

Payment details such as full card numbers are processed by our billing providers, including Stripe, Apple App Store, or Google Play, depending on where you subscribe.

How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and maintain our dive logging service
  • To authenticate your account and keep it secure
  • To sync your dive data across devices
  • To manage Premium trials, Free plan usage, paid subscriptions, and billing status
  • To provide recommendations, reminders, search, and planning using Dive Track catalog information
  • To create aggregated or de-identified insights, statistics, and datasets that improve Dive Track and its catalogs
  • To send you important service updates and notifications
  • To improve our application based on usage patterns

Aggregated and De-Identified Information

We may use data from user activity and records to create aggregated or de-identified statistics, insights, and datasets, such as dive-site popularity, average depth, average dive duration, visibility or temperature trends, common gear setups, training patterns, sea-life sightings, gear-service timing, product demand, and product usage trends. We use this information to improve recommendations, maintain catalogs, publish site-level or catalog-level statistics, understand demand, support environmental research, and develop business relationships.

We may share, license, sell, or otherwise provide aggregated or de-identified information to researchers, conservation organizations, public agencies, dive shops, training agencies, equipment brands, travel partners, advertisers, or other industry participants when it cannot reasonably identify, relate to, or be linked to an individual user. We do not share identifiable dive logs, exact private trip details, media, contact information, or account-level profiles with advertisers or partners unless you choose to share them, direct us to do so, or give us consent.

For environmental observations, such as sea-life sightings, we may generalize, withhold, or restrict exact location, timestamp, or sighting details before sharing or publishing them when the information could create conservation, safety, site-access, or species-protection risk. When we maintain information as de-identified, we commit to maintaining and using it in de-identified form and not attempting to re-identify it except to test our de-identification safeguards.

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on secure servers with encryption at rest and in transit. We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information from unauthorized access.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information or identifiable dive profile. We may share data with:

Certifications are Public by default when you add them, and you can make any certification Private. Public certifications may show the training agency, certification level, issue or expiration dates, and primary status on your profile to other Dive Track users. Private card details such as identification numbers, birth dates, card images, instructor information, and facility details are not included in that profile summary.

  • Service providers who help us operate our application, such as cloud hosting and email services
  • Payment and app-store providers that process paid subscriptions, renewals, cancellations, and receipts
  • Researchers, conservation organizations, public agencies, partners, advertisers, or industry participants only in aggregated or de-identified form that does not identify you
  • Law enforcement when required by law
  • Other Dive Track users for certification summaries set to Public and for dive information you explicitly choose to share

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Delete your account and associated data
  • Export your dive data
  • Withdraw consent for optional data collection, such as location or microphone access

Children's Privacy

Our service is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
